Weddings Galore

Today was the day we sent in our contract and our money to book our wedding venue. It is pretty exciting to say the least. That pressure is off our shoulders for now. I want to do some fun things for the wedding but since our wedding isn't till next August, there really isn't much to do until we start looking at the next vendors we need to book.

Before we do that, we have a lot of other peoples wedding stuff to do. October is going to be busy. We start with next Saturday's bridal fair that Chad and I will go to and then the weekend after is my friend Jessica's bachelorette party and then the weekend after that is Jessica and Preston's wedding day. The weekend after that Chad and I will be going to Bellingham for Taryn and Will's wedding. We will be taking lots of pictures, not only for the lovely couples but for us to have an ideas of what we like and want to incorporate into our day. It is gonna be a crazy wedding month but it should be lots of fun!

This Summer So Far

This summer, Chad and I went to Mount St. Helen's for some much needed camping fun and relaxation. what I didn't realized was that on that trip, Chad was going to propose to me in front of the most beautiful, closet spot in front of Mount St. Helen's. He was so awesome. We were looking out into the beauty of it all, when Chad decided to pull me into his side a little closer and whispered, "Hey Shele." I whispered back "What" and he pulled out the prettiest Black Diamond ring from his pocket and asked " will you marry me" and thank goodness I was wear his sun glasses to hid the mess of happy tears, I hugged him and then put on the ring and then remembered I should probably give my answer of "YES" verbally. It was great. That was June 23, 2014.

`Then, today, Chad and I went to the Spokane Highland Games at the fair grounds. It was hot but it was fun. I bought and Irish knife and looked at all the Scottish clan stuff. We watched some of the competitions and listened to bag pipes. It was very fun.

Little Shop

Little Shop of Horrors is coming along. We start Hell Week on Sunday where we do tech rehearsal from 12 pm to probably 10 at night. Then Monday, we start our four days of dress rehearsal. and open on Friday Oct. 18th.

I have put so much hard work into making the puppets and working on puppeteering them that I can't say I have been in another show working so hard. Or at least not in a long time. I am so proud of this show, and the scary thing is our puppets still need to be finished. EEK!

Still though, I am excited for all that has been happening recently and I think this play will start to bring in new people to see Ignite! Community Theater shows.

Can't Wait For Little Shop!

It's almost October and man is that one of my favorite months of the year. I love the corn mazes and the apple picking, not to mention Halloween is my favorite holiday. This coming Saturday October 5th, I will be volunteering with Ignite!community theater to haunt the HUB corn maze. In doing this the theater is paid enough money to help them continue their shows this season. we need many more volunteers as we are falling short. There are three different days they are doing the haunting but only one of them can I help with.

The show that is coming up is called Little Shop Of Horrors. It is such a great musical and if you haven't seen the 1980's musical version I highly suggest to. That is what our show is from. I am the third large version of the giant Audrey 2 plant and one of two puppeteers for the 4th Audrey 2 (Audrey 2 grows through 4 stages before she is large enough to eat people.) This show opens October 18th at 7:30 pm and runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for three weekends. We close on November 3rd. It will be so much fun. It's crazy cuz I am on a team that is building the puppets and it has been a really fun learning process.
(not our plant, but ours will be close :) )

Vacation and Exciting Theater

Chad and I enjoyed a wonderful vacation together for a week in Seattle area. We first had a hotel at the Westin Hotel and enjoyed ourselves in PAX. For those of you who don't know what PAX is, it is the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle WA.  It has mainstream and independent gaming companies there showing you their newest games and allowing you to play those games and new consoles before they are allowed for purchase to the world. They also have an arcade room where you can play all the old arcade games and pinball machines. We also painted some Dungeons and Dragons mini figures as well as bought a ton so we can paint them and use them in our D & D games. We listened to some of our favorite game voice actors speak and much more.

Once we were done at our three days of PAX, we headed up to Bellingham for three days to visit my step-sister Taryn and her boyfriend Will. It was great. We played with their dog Lou Dog, and their eighteen month old kitten Yetti. Taryn made us dinner and we played Settlers of Catan and Cards Against Humanity. I even learned how to make home made guacamole.

Now that we are back I have dove head in to Ignite! Theater. Right now they have their show "The Odd Couple" (female version) Running this weekend and next and they need everyone's support to make this show a success. This is the first show of the season and it needs to be a financial success to lay the foundation for the upcoming shows. It is running Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $15  unless you buy them in advanced which saves you money. Donations are gladly accepted.

The next show at Ignite! Theater is "Little Shop of Horrors" and it will be fantastic. I am part of the group that is currently making all 4 Audrey Two puppets for the show. I will be the sole puppeteer for the 3rd "Teen" Audrey two plant as that plant has grown to the size of a person and can eat a chopped up person for dinner...yum. I am one of two puppeteers that will be pupeting the last and largest Audrey two plant puppet. Her plant pod head is six feet by four feet approximately and she will start about 6 feet tall when in her lowest rest position. She will be enormous and by the end of the show will have eaten at least three cast members. I encourage everyone to come support our theater. Spread the word. That show opens Oct. 18th and runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday for 3 weeks!

SO yes, this week has been busy making the molds for the fiberglass we will be using to create these giant puppets. Man am I tired.

They Just Don't Build Phones Like They Used To

I may be young still, but I do remember a time when cell phones were built like destructible bricks. You could drop them, throw them, or (sometimes even) drop them in a puddle and it would still work. I myself do not have luck with phones. I really think it is just me vs. technology actually. Take cars for example.

In high school, I was on such high honors that I was chosen to receive a new car. The idea behind  it was that I would have reliable transportation to and from college the next year. Well, I must say that even though it had been my favorite car still to this day, it was a piece of rusted, oil leaking,O-M-G-Something-Used-to-Live-In-Here kind of junk car. It was a 1984 model (ha new, New-To-Me car) and man had it lived hard in someones pasture. Anyways, obviously I used it till I could get a better running car. Which happened to lead me to owning 3 more cars up to right now. So yes, I have owned 4 junk cars in the last 6 years. Ridiculous, I know. Only one car problem was partly my fault. The rest came that way.

Computers and laptops hate me as well. I always do something and they yell at me and my laptop even fried. It became unusable right when I needed it the most for college. Of course, right.  So now we know cars, computers, and cell phones all dislike me. I don't give up though. Its a battle forever.

So what happened to my cell phone. Well, its a good thing Best Buy has the best ever protection service for phones cuz they always help me. Two years ago, I bought a new smart phone and the thing that makes the phone screen flip for hotdog or hamburger direction for viewing broke while in the hamburger way. So I was unable to actually use my phone except for videos. So I sent it in to get it repaired. I had only had that phone for a week when that happened. This time I have had my phone for little over a month and the vibration motor inside that allows it to vibrate stopped working. Of course I realize this when my phone should be on vibrate and my boss is trying to get a hold of me to inform me of something and my phone doesn't do a thing. So I almost miss what's happening. I hope of course that it is an easy fix, but now they have to send it in to fix it and my type of phone is on back order. If they can't get my Galaxy S III to me in fourteen days, they have to give me the Galaxy S IV to me for free. Really it is a win-win situation. Hopefully nothing happens to this next one.

What A Wonderful Summer Week

This week has definitely felt like summer. It has been nice and hot, just how I like it, and time spent with some of my favorite people.

This week started with a Sunday to Monday camping trip with Chad and myself taking Mack our Blue Heeler camping for the first time. He had so much fun! In the morning, we let Mack out of the tent to go poddy while chad and I got ready for the day. Mack was fine for about 6-8 min before something (probably a deer) scared him so bad he almost broke out tent to get back in with us and as we emerged from our tent he peed himself. It was funny in a pitiful way. He was fine though after that. We played in the creek which was so cold it felt marvelous. We were all so exhausted after that trip.

Then on Wednesday, I went and got coffee with my friend Jessica to catch up a bit. We couldn't believe how we had been off and on trying to make a date and time to catch up for about 1 year. So we agreed it was definitely time to do it. We are going to try not to let time slip away from us like that again if we can help it.

Then on Friday, yesterday, Chad and I went to Deer Lake with my friend Brooke to swim and have a blast! Once finished there, myself and Chad went to Colville to see the Drive-In movie theater since neither of us had done that before. Sadly our only drive-in theater is going to shut down about Labor Day weekend due to a lack of funds to update their systems for the technology. It was a wonderful double feature. We watched "Epic" which was really good and I loved it even though I wasn't sure I would. Turns out the only problem with this movie seems to be the title. If you have a title that doesn't match the movie content, you movie will fail in theaters. The second movie was "Man of Steal" which the fight scenes were good and the music was wonderful but there were some serious story flaws and bad character development. I mean really, Mr. Kent was not a hard ass mean, guilting father. He was careful and encouraging. You shouldn't want to hope that that character dies but this time you really wanted it to happen. And if you write a history in the beginning to explain how something should work and then you break that rule later with no explanation, you get really confused. But other than that it was a good move.

All in all we really enjoyed ourselves this week and I am so fortunate to have such wonderful friends.
